We're looking for a Director, Learning & Performance who will provide strategic and tactical leadership for the Training & Development function at Rho. This includes building, developing, and maintaining a team of training professionals who will deliver effective training solutions across a wide range of company needs. This position is responsible for interacting with senior management, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure Rho's training strategy and outcomes are in alignment with corporate goals related to recruitment, retention, talent development, quality, and customer service.


Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership, guidance, and support for the Training and Development team
  • Works with senior management to identify and prioritize company-wide training needs, develops a strategy for addressing these needs, and works with Training team members to create appropriate and effective training solutions
  • Mentors and advises Training staff by providing strategic and tactical guidance to team members, creating a strong sense of team unity and team identity, and providing regular and ongoing positive and corrective feedback
  • Leads and facilitates company-wide and group training sessions on a variety of topics
  • Maintains Rho's Internal Catalog of training opportunities, and researches, tracks, and recommends external training opportunities for employees
  • Represents Rho during regulatory and client audits and speaks to our training systems, processes, and framework
  • Identifies and works with subject matter experts to develop training curricula and appropriate formats for delivery
  • Supports the propagation of mindful standardization throughout the company through reinforcement of best practices
  • Advises company on investments in training software and tools
  • Monitors ongoing progress of Training initiatives and identifies and acts on potential risks and opportunities
  • Ensures effective, accurate, and timely communication of key issues and progress to the Training team and senior management


  • BA/BS in Education, Human Resources, Communications, Psychology, Science or a related field.
  • 10-12 years of experience with Training, Employee Development, or Instructional Design.
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams and mentoring more junior employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of training, learning, and instructional design principles.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to think analytically and strategically.
  • Strong presenter and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead large scale, complex projects to successful closure.
  • Ability to motivate a team and support career progression for junior employees.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a CRO environment is not necessary; however, experience in a professional services organization (legal, accounting, etc.) is preferred.
  • Excellent technology skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office and relevant training and e-learning tools.
  • Ability to establish and meet multiple concurrent priorities, deadlines, strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ability to provide consultation and advice on Training and Development related issues, as well as demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
